Even though I will say they are hideous til I die, crocs are the perfect backpacking shoe for the campground. They are so light and comfortable that when you are stopping for the night, it is nice to have your feet out in the open a little.

Quite an interesting article and supporting comments here. I should point out that other people may make a different case, particularly in regards to travel tips. Have you seen more information on the Web, and will you point me in that direction?

I really liked this post! There are so many good tips for backpacking beginners here. There is one thing I would add about sleeping at night. Make sure before you go to sleep that you change your underwear before getting into your sleeping bag. It will keep you MUCH warmer -vs- staying in your current undergarments. Why? Because you perspire all day long. Your undergarments get moist and will cause you to be chilly, even inside the warmest of sleeping bags. Thanks for your tips!
